Waking up to sore and swollen eyes? Does your throat feel like you've been eating sandpaper? Well it's all thanks to allergens in the air, and they're only increasing as we go into warmer weather. So how can you help reduce the allergen count in your bedroom?

Beds Warrington

It's important to keep the room well ventilated, and that will help limit mould and house dust mites, as they tend to thrive in warm, humid conditions. An easy way to do this is just to have your windows open a little bit  overnight then close them as soon as you wake up. This way you're letting some fresh air in the room without a huge amount of pollen being let in.

Keeping the window open leads to the next point, keeping the temperature down. A cooler bedroom isn't just easier to sleep in, it can also help reduce the amount of dust mites as the temperature isn't ideal for them. It's also worth regularly cleaning underneath and behind the radiators as they can be an easy place for dust, pollen and allergens to get trapped.

This might be very obvious, but try to keep flowers out of the bedroom! We understand that they do look good and they add a touch of freshness to the room. But if you're desperate to add some florals, then look at something like lilies and tulips. Look for flowers that you'll be able to cut the pollen carrying stems out, whilst still keeping them looking good.

And finally, this might be something that many people forget about, but wash your curtains! Pollen, dust, dirt and allergens can collect on the fabric over time, so it's worth washing them every three months or so on a hot wash to try and get rid of all the debris.
